Chancellor needs a home ASAP!!! He is a great dog! We rescued him from the Castaic shelter last december. He has been in foster but the foster no longer want to help us out and foster. We have until April 1, 2026 to get him a home. here is his backstory. On December 27, 2025, we rescued Michael, #A5743192 from the castaic shelter. Michael is a 10-year-old neutered male pit mix that was brought to the shelters as a stray on December 8. He had a microchip. The shelter reached out to his owners and they didn't want him back! While waiting for someone to choose him, he developed an upper respiratory infection. It became critical in a get him out as soon as possible. The wonderful volunteers networked for a foster, knowing we could pull him. Luckily a wonderful couple stepped up and said they would take him So today we were able to get michael out. We're continuing the medication that he was on at the shelter and he will see our vet next week.He also has a bleeding growth on his leg which was removed in February, 2026. he is ready for his forever home now! he is a sweet, loving dog. When we first rescued him, he was so happy, he snuggled right into bed after dinner. we're so glad to give him the best of the rest of his life.

Conquer, the comeback kid, needs a home asap! He is a lovable dog, but also special needs, so he needs a wondercul person to foster or adopt him. The rescue covers his mecical care! Here is what his foster has to say about him: Conquer is a 12 year old, 30lb Pitbull/Shar-Pei mix who truly lives up to his name. Having survived a past of severe neglect, he is now a social, intelligent, and communicative gentleman looking for a home to live the best of the rest of his life. When we rescued Conquer in October 2025, he was dangerously underweight and suffering from severe skin irritation. Today, his transformation is nothing short of miraculous. While he has very few teeth left from his journey, he has gained a velvety, soft coat and a "dinner prance" that will melt your heart. Conquer is a true extrovert! He currently lives with other digs, but the gang do not always get along. He wants to greet everyone he passes, though he can be a bit of a "puller" and a "vocalist" on the leash because he’s just so excited to say hello! Conquer is a "mischievous genius" who needs to stay engaged. If he isn't given a task, he will find his own "projects"—like raiding the trash or playing keep-away with items from the table. He has mastered "Touch," is working on "Shake," and thrives with clicker training and durable puzzle toys. Because of his history of severe allergies and neglect, Conquer has developed some habits that require a little extra management: He thrives on a specific diet, daily Apoquel, and weekly medicated baths (where he’ll sweetly rest his head on your leg). To prevent him from obsessively chewing/licking his groin area (a habit from his days of discomfort), Conquer wears male doggie diapers (belly bands) while indoors. He handles his "outfits" like a pro, and it's a small trade-off for such a wonderful companion. Conquer is a loyal, hilarious survivor. He isn't a "Velcro dog," but he is a devoted companion who isn't afraid to "use his words" to tell you how he’s feeling. If you have a heart for seniors and a love for a good success story, the "Comeback Kid" is ready to prance into your forever home. Email for more info goldenyearsdogsanctuary@yahoo.com

Desperately in need of a foster or adopter asap for sweet 10 year young Calix. The foster returned this dog to our sanctuary. This is not the right home for him! Calix is full of love and energy. he wants to play and socialize with people and other dogs. The dogs at the sanctuary are old, quiet. They want to keep to themselves. Calix needs a home!!! Calix, aka Spooky #A2211880 from the north Central shelter deserves a happy ending! Did you follow his story on facebook or instagram? Apparently he was abused and neglected for years by his owners. A neighbor finally turned him into the shelter on July 25, 2025. Of course, he was not claimed by his owners. He was understandably nervous when first at the shelter and bit an RVT when they were removing a rope muzzle. After that, even though he had great behavior notes he was slated for euthanasia. No one wanted him, but everyone was rooting for him. Finally, we were able to rescue him on August 15, 2025. he had a temporary foster for a couple days because his long term foster was out of town. The long term foster really loves this dog, but it did not work out with his family. Poor Calix deserves a family and a home of his own. ADOPT TODAY!

Meet captivating! This sweet, super people friendly 10-year-old chihuahua, dachshund terrier mix found herself at the shelter on January 5, 2026, when her owner was arrested. The owner had four dogs. When she got out of jail, she took the other three and said this one was ugly and didn't want her. And so poor fortune #a2250750 sat waiting for a home. her deadline was pending for euthanasia, and we couldn't let her die in the shelter. URGENT NEED FOR A FOSTER OR ADOPTER BY APRIL 3, 2026!! Someone please help! .
On January 12, 2026, we rescued Rocky, #a4871718, now Callahan, from the Downey shelter. He is the 400th dog we have rescued since the inception of Golden years Dog Sanctuary in September of 2017! Rocky. Now, Callahan, was owner surrendered to the downy shelter on November 25, 2025. He was very friendly with people. He had a good behavior assessment. And yet nobody wanted him. His 72 hour notice came and went. His deadline for euthanasia came and went. A networker reached out to us with a foster. We reached out to the shelter saying we could pull the dog, and then the foster backed out. We thought all hope was lost. But then the networker found a second foster, and when I reached out to the shelter days later, Rocky was still there. So we made a plan, and he was rescued! He went to his foster home in San diego the next day. Callahan is doing well in his foster home. The first day, he wanted to hump the dogs, but was easily corrected and has not done that behavior since. The foster is leaving the state and cannot take callahan with her.

Cierra is a great dog who deserves her happily ever after! This is Cierra aka india, #A5725090 from the baldwin park shelter. She was owner surrendered to the care center on september 6. Chances of her getting adopted were slim. She had all her cards stacked against her: She is black, a bully breed, and over ten years old. but we have the best foster who said, let's get her out! So we did. She is happy and sweet and friendly and gets along with people. . She just has the best smile.I couldn't get enough great pictures of her.I had to share them all. She needs a forever home asap. She is not great with the other dogs at the foster home she is currently in. The foster works to keep her separated from the other dogs, but it is not fair to the foster or Cierra. We would love to find her at forever home. Until then, she is in foster, and she will have the best of the rest of her life.If you're looking for a friendly suite, lovable, bully breed dog look no further...adopt today!

On December 5, 2025, a, a woman reached out to us asking if we could help a dog at the Carson Shelter. .Apparently on thanksgiving, November 27, 2025, , she found a dog in the middle of the street. She brought it to the carson shelter in hopes her owner would look for her. She also posted the dog on lost and found sites and pawboost. the shelter attempted to reach out to the microchip owner. But nobody came for her. The woman reached out to us, and asked if we could help. We replied that we could only help this dog if we had a foster. she agreed to foster this dog until we get her adopted! yesterday, this dog, who they didn't even name, became available for adoption. we rescued her on December 11, 2025! Her new name is claudia. She is the sweetest, most wonderful dog.she gets along great with people and with the foster's other dog. Claudia is an 11 yr old spayed rottie mix who would love a forever home for the holidays! Take her on a two week golden getaway and see if she's the right dog for you

This amazing, sweet, friendly dog is available for adoption! We rescued her on October 23, 2025 from the Baldwin park shelter is free! Her new name is cherub, because she is a sweet little angel. I find it hard to believe that this dog was in the shelter for a month and no one adopted her! perhaps because the shelter arbitrarily said she was 14. She saw 2 vets today, and they both said she is probably only about 10 years old. She's vibrant, healthy, does not have a heart murmur, has pretty good teeth, is very mobile, and has no significant health issues that we can see. And yet, no one adopted her! She actually wasn't even on our radar. Our plan today was to rescue a senior Chihuahua from the SEAACA shelter. we had the vet set up, we had a foster, and Laura to transport. this morning we found out that another that another rescue was pulling that dog. Laura asked if I saw the fourteen year old at baldwin park. I had not. The foster said yes to the change of dogs, and bing bang boom, cherub was rescued! Cherub is in a foster home with other dogs. We would love to get her into a forever home. Then our foster can take another dog out of the shelter for us. so save two lives and adopt today!

We rescued Channing on October 10, 2025. He is currently in foster and ready for his forever home. here is what his foster has to say about this amazing dog:
So here comes the sweetest, most loving 12 year old little boy named Channing! He loves cuddling and going for walks. He is easily trained although I do have to say that I can’t get him to sit on command! He was left in the Carson Shelter in a pen with several other dogs and was shut down and traumatized by all the noise and commotion. It took him a couple of days to come out of his shell and warm up a little. Now he has really blossomed. He runs around with the fosters dogs and gets along great with the cats. He has quickly learned what “wanna go outside,” “Let’s go, and” Its’s time for bed” means. He races outside with the two other dogs when he hears “Wanna go outside” and really keeps up. And he races into the bedroom at night when its “Time to go to bed” to get to his donut bed ahead of the other two! He is pretty relaxed with the groomer. He is really protective of this food so should be fed separately. All my dogs are fed in the same room but separated from one another. He stands up for himself with other dogs no matter the size. He seems to have a pineal hernia. The vet ordered prednisone to shrink it to the size it is now. He was neutered in October. On his walks he urinates a lot and stops even when it seems like a dribble! He would do well with someone who doesn’t mind strolling and has patience with him on his walks. He is a trooper- loves to go on walks but doesn’t mind staying home and reading a book! He would do well with a family but preferably with older kids. I think he’d prefer an older couple or single person who would like a senior dog companion. He is a senior who does not act his age and has a lot of life and time left in him!

This super happy, smiling dog is pilot,#a5619739. He is now Concord ( see what we did there?). He is a sweet amazing 10-year-old staffy that we rescued from the Baldwin Park shelter. He came into the shelter in April and he had some sort of wound on his leg, which was treated by their staff. he is a staff and volunteer favorite. we wanted to pull him but we couldn't find anyone to foster him. We finally found a Foster and then, literally in the 11th hour, the Foster couldn't take the dog. We happened to get one of our dogs into foster and we were able to take him. Someone did step up to foster temporarily. We do need to find him a forever home. he is simply the best! he is loving, sweet, gets along with all dogs, is housebroken...what more could you ask for! adopt today!

Meet Cuervo, aka rocky #a5612001 . We rescued him from the Downey shelter on April 22, 2024. He came to the shelter on March 9, 2024 as an owner surrender. He did well in his behavior assessments and went to a foster home . Our foster said she could only keep him for 4 months, but fostered him for 1.5 years! In that time we never found an adopter. Cuervo is still waiting for his forever home! Cuervo is 12 years old and healthy. he has a puppy like personality enjoys playing with toys and going on walks. He was in an 8 week board and train program. He was the best student. No one stepped up to foster or adopt him after his training was over, so he is back at our sanctuary. He gets along with all the dogs and is friendly with everyone! The trainer who worked with him fell in love with him. You will too! come meet him and adopt today!

Is this not the cutest little dog!? This is mitzvah, #a2253462 now Chachki, ( and yes, it can be spelled without the t) (its Yiddish for little trinket) from the west valley shelter. This precious 15-year-old Chihuahua has owner surrendered on the 26. After having him for 14 years, they were moving out of the country and dumped him at the shelter. A volunteer reached out to us and asked if we could rescue this dog, we had a foster ready, so of course we saved him. He saw the veterinarian today and will go to his foster home tomorrow. We're so glad we can give this little senior dog the best of the rest of his life . He is available for adoption!.
